The Internet ...

Joseph Weizenbaum summarizes his critical perspective on technology, he said:

“The Internet is like one of those garbage dumps outside of Bombay. There are people, most unfortunately, crawling all over it and maybe they find a bit of aluminum, or perhaps something they can sell. But mainly it’s garbage.”

After the article appeared in New York Times 1999, he wrote a letter to the Times:

“I did say that, but I went on to say: There are gold mines and pearls in there that a person trained to design good questions can find.”

This is the Internet; look at the forums, blogs and trash can like websites that you have to see when you surf unless you design good quesuions to discard most of that.

I admire this saying to the fullest, I just hate myself when I come across those forums; especially the ones posted by the Arabians and Emaratis, they are so stupid, and mix things; you find Quran, Alisa, Jokes, animations and lots of garbagge, they think they impress people as if they have done all this, while everone knows that those templates are ready made for the idiots to use and bug the good ones

They are funny, I laughed till death one day while going through some of this trash, a girl appraising a person for posting the lyric of a popular song, and he did not reply ... he might have thought he wrote it

It looks odd and even impossible, but I believe the Internet will one day split into divisions or have a sort of hierarchy that limits the access, maybe thru logins, and serious people will not have to see this stuff, and the other way around; those guys will not see..... just waita decade or two

You dont seem to be quite active lately, I mean regarding emails ! I have not received any answer regarding the few questions I sent

You are right, I have been involved in a hell of work lately, research, committees, and you name it. So, my response has been much less than normal. However, I don’t recall questions to be answered left without … are you sure?
